Today we would like to introduce a new APCP partner… ¡Animation Machine!

ANIMATION MACHINE is a visual effects and animation production house. It was created in 2011 by Diego H. Dieguez, VFX supervisor with 25 years of experience, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and that in May this year has landed in Spain through its local producer, Fabián Aranda.

Hablamos con Diego H. Dieguez, director de Animation Machine:

  • How long has Animation Machine been in the advertising market?

AM was born as a company mainly dedicated to advertising, mainly because of my experience, as I had been working in this market for about 15 years at the time of founding it. We also collaborated with several feature films in the development and realization of the VFX and animation, of which we could highlight “XXY” and “El niño pez” by Lucía and Luis Puenzo, “Encontrarás Dragones” by Roland Joffé or “En la vía Láctea” by Emir Kusturica.

We also developed several music videos in a complete way, Art design, VFX and animation; where we could highlight “Si me dices que sí” by REIK, Farruko and Camillo, or “Goteo” by Paloma Mami, both nominated for best VFX in several occasions. We are currently developing Melendi’s latest music video.

  • How is Animation Machine team?

AM is a medium sized but scalable VFX and Animation house. We have in our team many talented people specialized in each area, modelling, rigging, shading, design, art, compositing, animation, coordination and production, and visual effects supervision and production. We have an excellent permanent staff and a great remote team that adds to each production according to the specific need.

  • Why have you decided to cross the Atlantic and come to Spain?

There is a personal story behind this, and as my grandfather always told me “la tierra tira” (we can’t forget our roots). My father and grandparents went to Argentina after the Spanish Civil War and stayed to live in Buenos Aires. We always wanted to get to know my father’s homeland and when we did we felt at home, in fact my sister moved to Madrid 27 years ago. AM always looked for the possibility of setting foot in Spain. Highlighting the quality of work and people that the country has, we believe that we can join in and contribute everything we know.

We already have very good experiences in markets such as the USA and Mexico, and we believe it is a great time to take this new step. The remote work complementing the face-to-face work and the whole current context helped us to realise that there are no borders to work and provide the same service and quality. The incorporation of Fabián Aranda as our producer in Spain allowed us to have that local spice that we believe is also necessary.

  • How do you think Spanish production companies would benefit from working with you?

We think that expanding to other territories is always a good and enriching experience. We ourselves started to work with China and India in several processes and we understood that they became very suitable in some specific tasks. We also believe that AM can be a new door for production houses in Spain to get to know our ways of working and benefit not only from the mix of cultures and visions, but also from VERY competitive costs, possible only because of the relation of our currencies (EURO Vs Argentinean Peso).

  • How do you see advertising film production and post-production today and what challenges do you think there might be in the near future?

Uff, there is a lot ahead, just new technologies open up new possibilities and we are always looking to be at the forefront with that. Unrreal Engine is here to stay in the film and advertising industry to solve virtual sets. We love the challenge, we have already started to use this technology, soon you will see it in the new musci video we are working on with Melendi. Also the new technologies of virtual people like MetaHumans or DeepFake for face replacement, these are all tools that we are incorporating on a daily basis here.

  • What are the next steps?

So it will be to take these first steps in Spain, and to be able to show you our way and desire to work, for the moment you can see all our work on the website: www.animationmachine.com.ar
