The advertising industry bets on caring for the planet

Caring for the planet is a necessity. One thing is clear within the advertising industry: the work done has to be sustainable. For this reason, organizations are created to help productions take care of the environment. From the APCP we collaborate with Green The Bid (GTB), a non-profit organization.

Green The Bid was created to help and invite the advertising industry to change its practices to sustainable practices. GTB is, without a doubt, a great partner for environmentally friendly productions. Some of the members are marketers, advertising agencies, production and post-production companies.

That need to take care of the environment is what has led many members of the production and post-production to seek solutions to be respectful of the planet. That is why AICP supports Green the Bid.

The AICP Show The Art & Technique of the Commercial, was held this year on June 7, 8 and 9. This is not just an awards show that evaluates the best work of the year. It is a research project of great cultural and artistic importance. The programming of the AICP Show 2022 has been complete. Talks have been given, including those given by Green The Bid on June 7 on the transformation of the industry and regenerative practices:

  •   A Case For Sustainability and Beyond. The talk was moderated by Kat Friis, co-founder of Green The Bid. They discussed the transformative action they have taken and shared what they have learned in the sustainability process. In addition, they also discussed what they will do next to move towards zero waste, net carbon neutral and regenerative.
  •   Sustainability in Production: Green The Bid. The talk was moderated by Jessie Nagel, co-founder of Green The Bid. This organization talked about how to make sustainable productions including virtual shoots, remote shoots and local production methods.

As we see, the advertising industry aims to be kind to the planet. So much so that Young Director Award (YDA); the only non-profit organization in the world that supports international creative talent in commercial film production, has gone green for its 25th birthday. These awards were held a few days ago and space was left to address the environmental responsibility that the advertising industry needs to embrace.

The YDA invited five people to discuss what has been done to improve advertising’s green credentials and what more needs to be done to continue to respect the planet. These included Gabi Kay (CEO of Green The Bid) and Peter Thwaites (witnessing the evolution of the industry and its environmental preferences).
