The APCP wants to highlight the value of women entrepreneurs who manage their producers. For this reason, today we dedicate this space to Luna Esquerdo. She is one of the creators of the company Bambina.

Luna is an Executive Producer and has worked mainly in the field of advertising. Before Bambina was born, this Spaniard was part of many companies, in fact she tells us that when she left university she started “making ppm dossiers and making coffees in a production company called Got Film”. “I grew and learned a lot for six years,” she recalls. Since 2001, she has worked for such powerful production companies as RCR Films, where she doesn’t forget great colleagues such as Dani Monedero and Marta Medall. The executive producer has also worked for CANADA, a project she was involved with, since the beginning and which was “an incredible experience” and which she will always remember “with great affection”. She also worked for Primo, another company in which, together with other colleagues such as Inés Segura and Pablo García Acon, she worked on major projects. In addition, she has been part of national and international campaigns with companies such as: SEAT, El Corte Inglés, Casa Tarradellas, among others. Despite all that she had already achieved, Luna wanted to go further and a year and a half ago she decided to build her own project together with the filmmaker Javier Ruiz Caldera. This is how Bambina was born.

Luna Esquerdo, one of Bambina’s creators

“Bambina was born out of a friendship between Javi and me”, says Luna…”. We met at a children’s film festival in Naples, when he was leaving ESCAC and I was still studying at uni. Since then, we’ve always had a very good relationship and common interests. When I was in Got film, we signed him as director and that was his first experience in an advertising production company. As time went by, we both felt it was time to create a personal project, and what could be better than doing it together. So here we are. Here they are and they will surely be here for a long time to come, as Bambina is an audiovisual production company with its own essence.

Bambina was created with the intention of telling stories. The aim was and still is to create audiovisual stories with a high level of production, taking into account the narrative and paying a lot of attention to the work of the actors. Today, while continuing to work in advertising, they are involved in creating fiction projects. Whatever they do, they want the audience to vibrate and feel with their stories.

From all the productions she has been involved in, this hard worker has learned something: “Starting from the bottom has given me a very complete vision of the profession: from the safety issues involved in the madness of a 20-hour day as a runner, to realizing that we are all the same and how small the world is when you produce big international campaigns with top world directors.

 Some of Bambina’s works are…

Lágrimas – Pikolin

 Carat – Xiaomi

El círculo perfecto – Donuts

What does it take to work in this sector? According to Luna, “it’s essential to have common sense, a desire to learn, patience and enthusiasm”. And yes, nerves are also normal… “Continuing to feel a little nervous when we go to shoot means that the enthusiasm is still there and that you like what you do”. Luna also believes in teamwork and tells all those girls who want to be part of the audiovisual world that “if that’s what you want, go for it”, although she also reminds them that they should “be humble and listen, but you also have to have character so that they don’t take you for a ride”. For this producer, “being a woman is an advantage, not a disadvantage”.

Luna continues to grow professionally, as does Bambina. She will never tire of aspiring for more. And, as she says, it is clear that “you learn from everything”. Whether in the world, in the stars or in another galaxy… Luna will continue to thrill in every production and with every story.
