During the Sitges Festival, an event called Producers meet Producers (‘the incubator for emerging audiovisual production companies’) was held, organised by Productors Audiovisuals de Catalunya (PAC) in collaboration with Iván Fernández, from Lee Films, who gave a masterclass to the attendees.
The common thread was the presence of Lee Films at the Sitges Festival, which was addressed by talking about their advertising campaigns, as well as short films. It also highlighted the production company’s approach for fiction projects in terms of flexibility, new trends, new formats and new ways of communication.
At the beginning of the presentation advertising spots and film directors were mentioned, to talk in-depth about specific projects later on.
One of those productions was ‘La Inquilina’ (‘The Tenant’), directed by Lucas Paulino and Ángel Torres, which has been part of the Sitges Official Selection as well as many other festivals, being awarded 11 times.
Led by Belén Rueda, Fernández highlighted the transformation in communications that it portrayed, as well as the diversity of formats and the approach to other disciplines, and the topic of finding new motivation and territories.
In order to create a short film with these values, he stressed the importance of creative talent, the storytellers and the in-house talent (with passing on values as key point).
The finishing touch was the analysis of the impact ‘La Inquilina’ had on the press.
Other mentioned projects were ‘Creadores’ (‘Creators’) (for Amazon prime and Fundación La Caixa), ‘Wait for it!’ (For Olympic Channel), ‘Al otro lado del selfie’ (‘At the other side of the selfie’) (for Mahou) and the short film ‘Ahora vuelvo’ (‘I’ll be back’) (directed by Lucas Paulino and Gabe Ibañez, and led by Belén Cuesta).
