Daniel Ortiz-Entrambasaguas, Producer of Danidogfilms presented the second panel “More than advertising” in which Iván Fernandez, executive producer of Lee Films, and Mario Forniés, founder and executive producer of Blur, explained two award-winning projects.
Iván began by explaining the project that Lee Films co-produced with associate producer Daniel Feito, “La Inquilina”, a short film directed by Lucas Paulino and Ángel Torres, partners and creative directors of Ruso de Rocky.
It’s a 7-minute piece, but you could say it’s a bit of a cheat, it’s made on purpose, the intention was to work on a trailer-like structure and then take it to a feature film format.
The short film was premiered at the Sitges Film Festival. At this edition of the festival, Belen Rueda, star of “La Inquilina”, received the Honorary Award.
One of the requirements of the piece was that if it went ahead, it had to be made in Spain and with the local crew.
“La inquilina” has received numerous awards and has been in different official selections such as the Montreal Fantasia Festival, Sitges Festival, San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Festival, Fantastic Fest (Austin, Texas), among others.
He was followed by Mario Forniés, who spoke about the award-winning spot “Una amistad improbable” produced by Blur for Amazon and the agency CYW.
After screening the spot that made a hyena steal our hearts, Mario went into depth about how this result was achieved.
It was directed by Chris Balmond. A very important part of this project is the post-production company in charge of making the hyena Hatty. It was a very realistic and difficult 3D to make. Finally, after a hard-fought pitch, the postproduction company was The Mill.
Hatty was a challenge because it was not just a 3D element but a character and therefore had to adopt a series of behaviours that conveyed emotions.
To carry out this project, a team of more than 120 people, both national and international, was brought together, with the participation of the director of photography Rob Hardy standing out.
As for the location, the spot was filmed in Madrid, in the amusement park and in the Warner Park, among others.
Finally, the attendees were able to see the making of the piece and thus understand the great work behind the cameras of this fantastic spot.
