The media outlet Canarias7 reported last week “the Canarian industry is getting stronger”. The news referred to the ‘Anuncia 2022’, an event promoted by the Asociación Canaria de Anunciantes or ACA (Advertisers from Canarias Association) that took place in El Sebadal.

This year has been the 4th edition of this event, hosted by Canarias7 itself. The speech by José Manuel Garrido, president of the association, gave way to a series of conferences and round table discussions such as ‘The television crisis, time for monsters’ or ‘Audiovisual advertising productions in the Canary Islands, tax exemptions in the future’.

Experts such as Laura Llamas and Adriana Delgado, both from GFK, and Carolo Valdivia highlighted some of the key issues of the day, such as the use of television and the political commitment to bring tax exemptions for advertising films made in the Canary Islands to the next REF negotiations.

The day ended with a round table discussion on possible tax exemptions for film advertising. The round table was attended by Jaime Sanz, tax advisor, and Andrés Ordóñez, from the advertisers’ side, the Deputy Minister of the Presidency himself, Antonio Olivera, who made a commitment at our forum to bring the extension of tax exemptions for cinema to audiovisual advertising productions to the next REF negotiations. The latter confirms that all the efforts made by the Canary Islands Advertisers in relation to this issue have borne fruit and that at least at the political level they have taken on board one of the demands of our sector.
