  • Masterclass by Caroline Champetier

Our sponsor Aluzine continues to collaborate with Dones Visuals in the promotion of women in the audiovisual industry. For this reason, together with Dones, the AEC, of which they are also partners, and the French-speaking film festival Ohlalà! in Barcelona, they are organising an exclusive session for members of Dones Visuals to enjoy the screening of the restored copy of ‘Tout le nuit’, by Chantal Akerman.

After the screening, there will be a masterclass by its director of photography, Caroline Champetier AFC, who is visiting Spain thanks to the AEC and Filmoteca Española (if you are in Madrid, you can enjoy a cycle of four of her films at the Cines Doré).

Caroline Champetier is an essential director of photography in French cinema. She has contributed her work to more than a hundred films since 1979. She won the César award for best cinematography for her work on “Des hommes et des dieux” in 2011. She was also president of the French Society of Directors of Photography AFC between 2009 and 2012. Her credits include films such as “Holy Motors”, “Annette” and “Of Gods and Men”…

With her we will learn about the artistic process behind Akerman’s restored work, followed by a networking session and beers at El Bistrot.

Here is a summary of the agenda:

Monday 9 May 2022 in the afternoon, Sala Zumzeig in Barcelona

– Presentation by Marta Selva and Diana Mihrahi

– Screening of Chantal Akerman’s restored film “Toute une nuit”.

– Masterclass by Caroline Champetier: Based on her experience, and through the film “Toute une nuit” by Chantal Akerman (1974), the director of photography will explain her career of more than 40 years and more than 100 films.

Session open to interventions and questions from the public

– Wines and beers at El Bistrot: after Caroline Champetier’s masterclass, Aluzine invites all the participants to have a few wines and discuss the meeting in a relaxed networking event that will take place at El Bistrot, the cultural bar of the Zumzeig cinema.

Dones Visuals, you have an appointment on May 9th!

  • The third edition of CIMA Impulsa gets underway

The third edition of CIMA Impulsa will be open from 29 April to 16 May 2022. The registration of projects will be done through the CIMA Impulsa website.

The 2022 call insists on the slogan ‘Think big, create without limits’, encouraging women filmmakers to submit more ambitious projects, of any genre, that break with the limits imposed by the budgets of inequality that have existed for too many decades.

In its commitment to promote women’s effective access to the audiovisual industry, the Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media (CIMA), in collaboration with the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) of the Ministry of Culture and Sport, through the Next Generation funds, and Netflix, is launching the third edition of CIMA Impulsa. This is a programme to support female professionals in the sector in the process of developing their film and audiovisual projects.

As a complement to the programme, Netflix will have the possibility of selecting up to five of the participants (who intend to direct their screenplays) to form part of its Female Director Shadowing Program.
