The Catalan director, Gaudí award winner for La última virgen, makes her feature film debut with a fantastic drama about adolescence, fear, and belonging.
Filmmaker Bàrbara Farré, recognized with the Gaudí Award for Best Short Film for La última virgen, is shooting her first feature film: Agrestes, a fantastic story that explores adolescence, fear, and the need for belonging. The film stars Iria del Río, Roger Casamajor and the young debutant Maria Schwinning.
The film follows Atenea, a girl who lives isolated with other orphaned minors in an environment where growing up means disappearing. Her life changes when she moves in with a family and, for the first time, dreams of having her own home. However, the threat of being excluded from that future pushes her to make unimaginable decisions to not lose that sense of belonging.
With a screenplay by Bàrbara Farré and Alberto Dexeus, the shooting is taking place in several locations in Barcelona and Girona. The production is handled by MIMOSA, Sumendi, Lagrima Films, Kabak Films and Mamma Team, with the participation of 3Cat, Filmin and Movistar Plus, and the support of the ICAA and the ICEC. Distribution in Spain will be handled by A Contracorriente Films, and the premiere is scheduled for 2026.
From APCP, we proudly celebrate that one of our associated production companies, Mamma Team, is part of this promising production, which reinforces the talent and international projection of the Spanish audiovisual industry.
