“ME AGAIN” – A STORY OF DAO DEFICIT’, was released this summer with a clear objective: to highlight the most common symptoms caused by this anomaly.
The filming took place during the month of April 2022, and the associate Producciones Oxígeno was in charge of this production.
In the short film, the deficit is represented through four siblings, who suffer from the 4 main symptoms: migraine, fibromyalgia, digestive disorders, atopic skin, as well as ADHD, which is symbolised by one of the children in the family.
The project encompasses the whole family in its 7-minute duration, but it is also divided into different 1-minute pieces dedicated to each of the main characters. The campaign was officially launched in June in Europe, the United States and China.
To give context, DAO deficiency is caused by a lack of the enzyme DAO (Diamine Oxidase), which occurs naturally in the intestine and whose main function is to metabolise histamine. The reduction of this enzyme can lead to a decrease in the quality of life of sufferers, affecting the accumulation of histamine in the blood. Around 15% of the population suffer from it without knowing it, it can be hereditary in origin and its symptoms often go unnoticed, making it difficult to diagnose.
With a powerful awareness message, Dr Healthcare is encouraging people to get tested and treated.
