This week our friends and sponsors at Bestours have reported that the UK removes COVID19 travel restrictions and the EU extends the COVID Certificate until mid-2023.
The UK will remove the need for inbound travellers to complete a Passenger Locator Form, ending its last COVID-19 travel restrictions as of today, Friday 18 March.
Until now, travellers without a full vaccination schedule had to undergo a test before flying to the UK and another upon arrival. In addition, everyone, regardless of their vaccination status, had to fill in a form with their personal details and travel plans.
On the other hand, the EU Council has approved the extension of the EU Digital COVID Certificate for another year, until June 2023, a measure that had been proposed last February by the European Commission.
On March 7th, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Governments of the Member States of the European Union (Coreper) formally endorsed the Council’s negotiating mandate with the European Parliament to extend the regulation, which currently stipulates that the certificate expires on June 30th 2022.
