A year ago, the DANA left its mark on Valencia. Today, we remember how the APCP and its associated production companies responded with action, humanity, and commitment.
Twelve months ago, the Valencian Community was shaken by one of the worst natural tragedies in recent memory: the DANA. In the face of the emergency, a collective response emerged that not only rebuilt infrastructure, but also the hope of a community. The Association of Advertising Film Producers of Spain (APCP) joined this effort, mobilizing resources, talent, and solidarity to help those affected.
Through a fundraising campaign in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL), the APCP channeled donations that were used to purchase food, cleaning products, and assistance for the most vulnerable families. In addition, material collection points were established in various locations, facilitating the logistics so that aid reached those who needed it most efficiently.
In collaboration with our sponsors Cuchara de Palo and Rolling, as well as associated production companies, we organized a campaign for the collection and distribution of humanitarian aid in the affected areas. Thanks to the generosity of all these companies and production companies, tons of mineral water, non-perishable food, warm clothes, rain boots, and other essential items were transported to Valencia. Cuchara de Palo was in charge of the direct distribution to the most affected families, demonstrating that the solidarity of the audiovisual sector can be transformed into real and tangible action.
But the response of the audiovisual sector was not limited to material aid. In a roundtable titled “Un favorcito: Rodemos en Valencia” (A Little Favor: Let’s Shoot in Valencia), organized by the APCP, local audiovisual professionals reflected on the situation of the sector after the catastrophe. This initiative not only served to share experiences, but also to strengthen ties between production companies and reaffirm the sector’s commitment to its community.
Today, looking back, we value the capacity for resilience and solidarity that emerged from the misfortune. The APCP and its associated production companies demonstrated that, beyond cameras and sets, the true power of audiovisuals lies in their ability to connect, move, and transform. On this anniversary, we thank all the companies, production companies, and sponsors who made it possible for light to shine again in Valencia, and who, with their action and commitment, reminded us that together, the sector can generate a real impact on society.
