Did you know that two percent of all carbon emissions worldwide come from information and communication technologies?
Yes, that’s right, it may sound crazy, but according to a study by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) our sector still has a long way to go. But what is really important is that we are aware, and we have the opportunity to act and bring about the necessary changes.
For this and much more, platforms like Green Film Shooting are created with a single purpose: to ensure sustainability in the media industry.
Today, we have already witnessed some advances that favour the reduction of the carbon footprint in the world of production, such as the use of electric cars during filming or various measures to reduce energy costs.
In this case, it is our turn to highlight the Green Film Shooting Plan, also known as “The Green Film Shooting Plan” which will take place in Mallorca from 2022 to 2024. Around €2,150,000 will be earmarked for sustainable filming practices in the audiovisual sector. Participating companies will receive support for the acquisition of technology to enable them to produce their work in a greener way. Promoting hybrid mobility, the use of energy from renewable sources or eliminating plastic bottles wherever possible.
In addition, the plan is financed by the European Union through the Next Generation funds, and the APCP wants to encourage this type of agreement in the peninsula, encouraging our associated producers to do so.
“If we achieve our sustainability goals but no one follows us, we will have failed”
(Paul Polman, CEO Unilever).
With this quote we promote teamwork, these initiatives are only possible if we all join together for a better future. Taking care of the planet, to also take care of ourselves and the first step starts with helping from our sector.
