This year, directors from some of our associated production companies will be present at the 27th edition of the Malaga Festival, as participants in fiction projects or even as jurors.
Bambina
Javier Ruiz Caldera, director of Bambina, will be a member of the jury of the official feature film section of this edition. He directed the short film Treitum, winner of the Biznaga Award for Best Short Film at the Malaga Festival 2001.
His films, Spanish Movie (2009), Promoción fantasma ( 2012), Tres bodas de más (2013), Anacleto agente secreto (2014), Superlópez (2018), Malnazidos (2020) and Un hombre de acción, released on Netflix in 2022, combine several Number 1 at the box office with national and international recognitions such as Best Director at the Seattle International Film Festival 2016, Best Film at the Monte Carlo Film Festival 2013, Best Film in Panama 2012 and 2013 or Best Film and Audience Award at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF) in 2013 and 2016. His films have also won several Goya awards for their special effects in 2014 and 2019, four Gaudí awards in 2015 and the Feroz Award for best comedy in 2013.
For television he has directed episodes of El Ministerio del Tiempo; seasons 2 and 3 of Mira lo que has hecho, winner of the Ondas 2021 and IRIS 2021 award for best direction, and El otro lado nominated for best comedy at the Feroz 2024 awards.
Central Films
Lluvia, debut feature film by Mexican director Rodrigo García Saiz, is part of the Official Selection of the Malaga International Film Festival. The screening will be on March 8 at 19:00 at the Cervantes Theater. And there will be two more screenings:
Saturday 9 at 16:30 at Multicines Rosaleda – Sala 1.
Saturday 9 at 22:30 at Cine Albéniz – Room 3.
Synopsis:
Six stories, different characters walking through the streets of Mexico City, chased by an intermittent rain and absorbed in a daily hopelessness. However, each one faces an unforeseen moment, a strange, luminous or absurd event that reveals who they are. After these unusual moments, they plunge back into the confusion of the days.
Harry
On March 7th we will be in Malaga participating in the 5 Minutes Section where a Teaser of our film will be screened. The producers Tay Sanchez from HARRY and Marta Velasco (Áralan films) will be there along with Yolanda Centeno, the director and some of the actors.
Tras el Verano is the debut feature of the Andalusian director who has developed her career between cinema and advertising.
Synopsis:
Paula, Raúl and Dani could be just another family. They could be, except that Dani is not Paula’s son, and Paula is facing the challenge of fitting into a reconstituted family, as well as suffering a couple crisis. All in all, Paula is under pressure to stop seeing Dani forever.
Lee
The film Nina directed by Andrea Jaurrieta, director represented by Lee Films, will present her new feature film on the 4th at the Malaga Film Festival.
Synopsis:
Nina (Patricia López Arnaiz) decides to return to the seaside town where she grew up, with a shotgun in her bag and a goal: to take revenge on Pedro, a famous writer to whom the town now pays homage. The reunion with her place of origin, with her memories of the past and with Blas, a childhood friend, will make her rethink whether revenge is her only option.
