  • The filming service of the Diputación de Teruel responds to an invitation from the Aragón Film Commission to participate in this parallel activity.
  • The deputy Diego Piñeiro highlights the importance of “gathering good practices in the sector”.

The Teruel Film Commission (TFC) is sharing experiences and establishing new links with filming services from other Spanish territories, as well as with the national and international film industry at the Malaga Film Festival. The deputy of Culture and Tourism and delegate of the service of the Provincial Council of Teruel (DPT), Diego Piñeiro, has participated with the technical coordinator of TFC, José Antonio Martín, in the Industry Zone of the event, holding various meetings with production companies and other film offices under the umbrella of the Aragon Film Commission (AFC).

The filming service of the DPT responds to an invitation from the AFC and Aragón TV, which have their own space in this market where international buyers, sales agents, distributors, festival programmers and producers meet. Within this framework, they were able to exchange impressions with the heads of other film offices, find out what projects are being handled by film production companies and creators, and establish formulas for the promotion of services with specialised media.

“In addition to publicising our services and the potential of our territory, in Malaga we also seek to gather ideas, good practices in this sector and, above all, to forge possible alliances. It is not only important to make ourselves known, but also to help us grow, sharing experiences on how services are provided in other territories or knowing what the productions that are being shot or are going to be shot need”, said Piñeiro, highlighting that, compared to last year’s experience, “we are seeing how our Film Commission is becoming more and more known and we are not only asking questions, but they are coming to ask us”.

Piñeiro related this interest to the aid from the Teruel Investment Fund to help audiovisual projects shot in the province. “We are seeing that the work we have been doing at the TFC and the AFC is bearing fruit,” he said.

The Teruel expedition, which attended the closing ceremony of the Spanish Screening Content (an international promotional platform whose main objective is to encourage sales of Spanish cinema) was also attended by the director of the Desafío Buñuel Film Rally, Pimpi López Juderías, who checked the dissemination of this event among the industry through the magazine Cine&Arte. The director of the Teruel event has held meetings with professionals from the sector in Spain and Latin America, with distributors of short films and film entities. “The aim is to continue to gather support so that our challenge continues to grow”, he said.

In addition to participating in the parallel activities, the TFC will have a special presence at the Malaga Film Festival with its own event to present its services, to which a hundred audiovisual professionals have confirmed their attendance. At the event, presented by Luis Alegre, the TFC deputy delegate Diego Piñeiro and the technical coordinator of the Aragón Film Commission Estíbaliz Centeno will explain the competitive advantages of filming in the province of Teruel. In addition, Pimpi López Juderías, the Teruel cameraman Javi G. Marinero and the film director Ana Murugarren will speak about their personal experience of filming in the province.
