On Tuesday, January 30, a presentation and workshop on sustainable film tourism in Barcelona took place at the Palau de la Virreina. The event was co-organized by the Erasmus Knowledge Centre for Film, Heritage and Tourism (FiHeTo), the Barcelona Film Commission and Barcelona Turisme. For three hours, members of different members of the Consell de Turisme i Ciutat, the Association of Audiovisual Producers of Catalonia, the Association of Advertising Film Producers, as well as researchers and experts in the field have provided their input on the products derived from a pilot study funded by the European Research Council.

Specifically, they have discussed, on the one hand, the draft of a letter of intent on how to develop strategies to encourage and support a sustainable and inclusive audiovisual production and film tourism in Barcelona; and, on the other hand, an interactive map that, through filmography shot in areas of low tourist intensity and from a local perspective, seeks to expand the image of Barcelona, decongest areas of high tourist intensity and promote new experiences with the place, both for tourists and for the local community. In the coming weeks, the research team associated with FiHeTo, consisting of researchers from the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) and CETT-UB (Barcelona) will work on the implementation of the input received by the participants.
