In a context of sustained expansion since 2021, the report shows a more digital, connected, and committed to sustainability audiovisual sector. Cinema, television, advertising, video games, animation, metaverse, and extended reality converge on the same horizon: to consolidate Spain as a relevant creative hub in Europe.
Spanish cinema demonstrates resilience after the pandemic, with box office revenues almost doubled since 2021 and record national production. Animation and visual effects grow and export successfully, while television and OTT services confirm the vitality of Spanish narrative at an international level. Advertising, a symbiotic engine of the sector, continues to adapt to new digital codes, balancing creativity, diversity, and sustainability.
Emerging sectors such as video games and esports consolidate their place as cultural and entertainment expressions, with more than 22 million players in Spain and growing female participation. The report also highlights the expansion of the metaverse, the maturity of extended reality, the rise of artificial intelligence applied to production, and the growing importance of environmental commitment in creative processes.
