Makkers School opens registrations for its next course and offers a special rate to APCP members.
Makkers School is launching a special workshop for industry professionals to master the technicalities of technical audiovisual English. The course is scheduled for 28th and 29th September and registration is now available.
English is currently considered the world’s most important language, both for those who speak it as a first language and for those who speak it as a second language. It is universally regarded as the main element of communication between cultures. The phenomenon of globalisation has contributed greatly to making English the most important and necessary language of today. Nowadays it is essential, not only to have the knowledge to communicate in this language, but also to study the technical English of each profession. Makkers is an audiovisual school created in 2017 in Madrid, which offers a Master’s Degree in Production and Direction of Advertising Film (the only school in Spain that offers a Master’s Degree of this nature), and another Master’s Degree in Production and Direction of Film and TV Series. In addition to these two master’s degrees, other smaller courses are also taught, such as Creation, Production and Production of Video Clips; Sustainability in Filming; Story Boards and Illustration for Film and Advertising; Audiovisual Technical English, Production Controller. The founding partners are Nick Igea (who has been working for more than 20 years as Head of Production in advertising campaigns and is also currently a film producer), Pablo Herraiz (Head of Production at Blur Films, an advertising production company, one of the largest in Spain and Europe), and Javier Chinchilla, one of the most prestigious Assistant Directors in Spain, who has worked under the orders of Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott and Milos Forman. Anna Cassina is also part of the team as coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Film and TV Series Production and Direction, currently Director of International Production Services at Secuoya Estudios.

Luís Mata (Madrid, 1974). Graduate in Audiovisual Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid. He worked for more than 10 years as a video/camera technician on advertising shoots. Most of his professional career took place in international productions (service), working in all of them in English. Some of the campaigns in which he participated include brands such as Nike, Mercedes, Audi, Turkish Airlines, Nutella, ESPN, etc. He lived in Chicago for a period of time and since 2013 he has been an English teacher at the Official Language School of the Community of Madrid.
