Regarding the service market, we have participated in the meetings held in the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration to talk about the new process for the entrance and term of people from third countries working in the audiovisual industry.
This contribution helps to simplify and speed up the granting of permits and visas of all workers coming to Spain to film.
The plan recognises the need to create an agile, flexible and simple system that eases the hiring of artists, technicians and other professionals of the audiovisual field that cover the needs of an industry with high competitivity that is subject to very short deadline periods for hiring and the transportation of foreign professionals from outside of Spain.
The instructions passed in the Cabinet established three ways (up to 90 days, a maximum of 180 days or more than 180 days) for the access and term into Spain depending on the stay period of the professional.
A first route is established for professionals in the audiovisual sector who are going to stay in Spain for up to 90 days in any 180 days period, who will be exempt from the obligation to obtain a work authorization and a visa if they come from those visa-exempt countries according to community regulations.
The previous situation was: In case of activities that last a maximum of 5 consecutive days of filming or 20 days in a period inferior to 180 days the visa used is the short-term work visa exempt of the obligation to obtain a residence, work and visa authorisation if they come from any country exempt of visa by compliance with the community regulations.
Furthermore, the actual plan sets the possibility of artists or professionals remaining in Spain with their direct family, a key element for many artists. This new process also allows underage artists and professionals to come to Spain and carry out their activities in the audiovisual industry while being accompanied by their parents, in the name of preserving the interest of the minor.
Another important element in this new process is the broadening of the concept of professional in the audiovisual industry, including not only the renowned artists but all those professionals that make the continuing of the activities possible as well, like the choreographers, directors, producers, etc.
This flexibility will favour international productions brought to Spain, but it will also make it easier for local productions (100% Spanish) to carry out international co-productions with less administrative difficulties.
