Last week, the event “Women and Business”, promoted by Mujeres a Seguir (MAS), was held to answer some key questions about female entrepreneurship. Along with several indispensable voices of the current scene, the director Leo Solanes, from the production company SOLANES Films, appeared.

This company is positioned in the ranking of the best advertising production companies of 2022, recently published by El Publicista. Its archive includes advertising spots, fashion films and video clips, as well as reserving a space for photography.

Leo Solanes, who debuted as a director in 1990, alternates this professional facet with her role as executive creative producer. In both, she always adds her love for fashion. An ingredient that has led her to work with other women in the industry such as Bar Refaeli or Claudia Schiffer and with which she won a golden lion at the Cannes Festival during the 1993 edition for the project “The Naked and the Dressed”.

In addition to this, she has also faced the challenge of taking over SOLANES Films, founded by her husband more than 50 years ago and from which she considers herself an entrepreneur in a circumstantial way.

As a key to making the leap into entrepreneurship, she emphasised the importance of “courage with common sense”, as well as “being willing to make an effort, to pursue and fulfil your dreams”.

During the conference, many more women gave advice to those present based on their experience: María Cordón, CEO of Blue Healthcare, left the quote “think big and act short”, while for Coral Márquez, CEO of Farma Dorsch, the most important thing is “to have a restless mind, learn from mistakes and anticipate”. Patricia Pomies, from her corporate fund Globant Ventures, also spoke of the importance of supporting other entrepreneurs.

As Esther Valdivia, editor of Mujeres a Seguir, pointed out, the Spanish business fabric can still evolve towards a more inclusive and diverse panorama, led by more women.
