Blur is more than Brit-pop, it’s more than a visual effect, it’s more than a verb and more than an international award-winning production company. Blur defines itself as a family. It is a multidisciplinary creative production company, with offices in Madrid and Barcelona.
Blur produces commercials, music videos, branded and long form content, and works with some of the best agencies and creative organizations in Spain and abroad. Blur’s team of directors, which includes people from many corners of the world, has won a multitude of awards in advertising. It also explores the world of fiction, as evidenced by its success with “La mala vida”.
We want to highlight how the production company has collaborated with several companies in the sector to make possible the sponsorship of APCP at Cannes Lions 2024, this year at LBB Beach, on the Croisette Beach from June 17 to 21; who will be with us on this international stage.
We spoke with Inés Segura, Partner and Managing Director of Blur.
How would you define Blur’s vision and way of creating?
I think Blur’s way and vision is based on talent always accompanied by hard work, perseverance, creativity and solidity in what we do. This is the only way to achieve our goal, which is to make the best audiovisual pieces. To achieve an excellent final result.
What is your experience when working with teams of people from different corners of the world?
It’s like traveling, it always brings and teaches you. Having the opportunity to work at an international level and with such interesting campaigns makes you learn, progress, opens your mind creatively. And above all you have the opportunity to work with teams from all over the world, the mix of cultures always adds up.
What successful projects from your professional career would you like to highlight about Blur’s collaboration with agencies and creative organizations?
In my opinion any project where the client, the agency and the director are happy is a success. Whether the project is big or small. The last campaign we have done and we are very happy with is the Estrella Damm summer campaign shot with Oriol Villar’s agency and directed by Claudia Llosa. It is a very beautiful piece and it has been a very emotional project for all of us.
We like to talk about achievements, why do you consider that you have become an international award-winning production company, what are some of the most important awards and recognitions that Blur has received?
I don’t want to think that we have become an international award-winning production company, I like to say that we have won international awards but we have not yet achieved the goal. To think that we have already achieved everything would make us not move forward. And from Blur we continue working every day to do an excellent job, if there is a prize, fine, but the best prize is to be proud of what we do.
Blur won the Grand Prix in 2016 in Cyber, and the Film Craft in 2018 at the Cannes Film Festival, where it has also won several golds in the Film category and several more awards in other categories in various editions. In addition, at festivals such as One Show, British Arrows, Ciclope, LÍA, El Sol, etc. Blur was named Top Producer in the Global Creativity Report at Cannes Lions 2018, was nominated for Best Producer at the Shots Awards, awarded Best Producer at the Epic Awards.
How important is the presence of APCP, together with companies from the advertising film industry (production companies, suppliers…), at Cannes Lions today?
I think it is important the work that APCP is doing, both nationally and internationally. The fact of having an association where we fight for a fair and ethical work and work as a team makes us more professional both nationally and internationally. The APCP is a guarantee of a job well done. And that is very important nowadays.
How do you see the future of Blur as a production company in the advertising film industry?
Well, as I said, the future is to continue with the same editorial line, talent, creativity, a job well done, good craft, perseverance and respect for each of the people involved in each project.
I am sure that the future of Blur will bring us many joys and pride.
