Ava is a Spanish creative content production company with a decidedly global vocation. They represent a portfolio of international filmmakers and graphic talent with a great narrative vision, because who better to understand the creative challenges faced by global agencies and brands, film and series producers or the filmmakers of foreign production companies than a company with a broad creative vision.
In addition, Ava. provides bespoke production services throughout Spain with our experienced team of international producers. It spans the worlds of advertising, branded content, general entertainment and event production with the same unified approach of always putting creativity and quality first.
We spoke to Paco and Agustín González, founders and EPs at Ava.
What inspired Ava. to become a creative content production company with a global vision?
Ava. was born out of my brother Agustín’s first trip to the United States 25 years ago and his years of working from London, Los Angeles, NY, Paris and Tokyo. From there came the idea of being truly global and learning from all those productions in dozens of countries around the world, which by then were doing much better than all of us. We have always wanted to be more than just a production company; a source of inspiration for the whole industry based on our global experience, standing out for our innovation, creativity, personalised treatment and our new image, more in line with the current times, as is Ava.
What has the experience of representing international filmmakers and graphic talent in the audiovisual market in Spain been like?
It has been a good experience despite the limited budget we have and this fills us with challenges. We have learned to merge the visions of each talent with our local one to create something unique and creative, as we have reflected in all our projects. Representing international filmmakers and talent has allowed us to offer our clients a much more modern, daring and diverse perspective on each and every project. We have had the opportunity to work with internationally renowned talent, which has led us to challenge ourselves and rise to the challenge on every production. From the streets of London or every corner of Andalusia to the most special locations in Paris. We believe that this focus on our team and our collaborations is what allows us to stand out in the audiovisual sector and continue to deliver high quality experiences to our clients globally.
What aspects and differences do you consider most important when dealing with advertising, branded content, entertainment and event production projects?
The most important thing for us is that the client has the certainty that we are going to solve their beautiful problem in time and in the most creative way possible, adapting to their needs. There is a lot of difference from a service to an event or a documentary, but in the end everything has to have the same feeling for the client and that feeling for us has to be one of peace of mind.
One of your latest and outstanding projects is ‘Frames From Andalucía’, a trip together with ten international photographers to capture the ‘Andalusian Crush’. Can you tell us about the creation of the project ‘Frames for Andalucía’, which has received great recognition? What were the biggest challenges and achievements during its realisation?
In the ‘Frames for Andalucía’ project we were chosen as a production company specialising in Tourism due to our extensive experience in other advertising campaigns such as Turismo de España, Turismo Islas Canarias, Turismo Madrid, among others. We saw the opportunity to highlight the unique beauty of Andalusia through the eyes of various international photographers and wanted to reflect every moment of the shoot in a documentary. The biggest challenge was the complex logistical planning, as it involved coordinating travel itineraries for ten photographers from different parts of the world. In addition, we had to ensure that they captured a wide variety of landscapes, cultures and iconic moments of the region, taking into account every vision. We also faced the unforeseen challenges that arose in each location, as well as the weather conditions during the month of December, at the height of the long weekend and Christmas. Despite these obstacles, one of the greatest achievements of the project was the positive and collaborative atmosphere among all participants. We were able to meet the project’s objective by allowing each photographer to convey their unique vision and capture the essence of Andalusia. The project has served as a window to the world to show the essence of Andalusia’s history, nature, tourism and architecture, while having different perspectives from international photographers. The presentation of the documentary is on the 13th of June in Malaga, and we will be able to see all the work and dedication behind this great international project.
Do you have any current projects that you would like to share with us?
We are currently involved in a number of projects, both nationally and internationally. The highlight is that we’ve been working with Lucas Film for the last two years on a secret project for Star Wars, which we’ll probably be able to tell you something about very soon, but we can’t give any more details for now, but we’re looking forward to sharing them as soon as they come out. Also, our latest spot shot for Coca Cola is coming out very soon.
Finally, what are Ava.’s future plans and objectives as a production company in the global creative content industry?
Ava.’s future plans and objectives are focused on consolidating our position based on successful and satisfying client experiences, as, for example, Katherine Kennedy (Lucas Film CEO) described her experience with us as “stuning and fascinating”. We want to impact society through projects that inspire, challenge and take our work to the next level, collaborating with the best creatives in the world, whatever their field.
