Introducing Rolling Productions, one of the most innovative and committed companies in the audiovisual advertising sector and the driving force behind the next APCP Festival as Gold Sponsors.
Rolling Productions is defined as a consolidated company in the audiovisual sector, especially in film and advertising shoots, as a supplier of production and transport material. They have an extensive catalogue that includes everything necessary to carry out a shoot in the best possible conditions, with high quality materials and a highly specialised team.
Rolling Productions offers a wide range of material and services to facilitate the production of shoots: from a variety of equipment such as tents, wardrobe and make-up elements, electrical equipment, as well as household goods, among others. They also have specialised, fully-equipped loading vehicles and transporters experienced in filming. Their team is made up of professionals with experience in areas such as production, wardrobe, art and camera, guaranteeing efficient and safe handling of the material, as well as continuous support on the film sets.
We talked to Javier Gil, partner and CEO of Rolling Productions.
How would you define the value proposition of Rolling Productions in the audiovisual sector?
Rolling has been growing, since 2015 when we founded it, in a gradual and constant way, so that being a company with hardly any specific weight at that time, but with very clear ideas of where it wanted to go, today we try to be a reference in terms of business model, involving ourselves with our clients in such a way that we could say that we work as almost one more department in the framework of their production. We try to provide efficient and safe support, collaborating closely with the production teams. I think we have been adapting to the constant changes in the production and creative process, being very functional and operative.Trying to provide security and confidence.
You mentioned that you work with high quality materials. What measures do you take to ensure that the equipment you provide is always in perfect condition?
The storage and cleaning conditions and the monitoring of the state of the material and the stock are crucial, as well as always investing in quality products, which, although they imply a greater investment in the short term, in the long term they are elements that are much more profitable due to their durability and efficiency. When the equipment comes back from a shoot it is immediately checked by our team, so we will always keep everything already checked, but before it goes out again it is checked again and retested, to try to avoid anything going wrong.
What trends have you observed in the material and logistical needs for filming in recent years?
In Rolling we have been able to see that the production companies try to take care of the details with respect to the client and agency, they have opted for a certain care and aesthetics to make a shoot more comfortable, which in itself is a process of many hours of daily work for a very large team. And above all, we have been able to see a greater environmental awareness and waste generation/recycling. The demand for eco-sustainable products has increased a lot in the last two/three years.
What is the biggest challenge you face in the logistics of filming, and how do you tackle it as a company?
Without a doubt, the immediacy and constant changes. The organisation of shoots, especially in advertising, have short production periods. Last minute changes can mean that some material can enter the scene at the last minute, or the other way round, that after preparing it, it is no longer necessary. With transport it’s much more obvious, adjusting crew and vehicles every week is certainly a challenge. Your customers have to roll and you have to adapt to their needs, because they in turn adapt to the needs of their customers. It’s not always easy, but as they always say… it all works out in the end.
Could you share an example of a particularly special project or shoot that you would like to highlight in which you have participated?
At Rolling we have always had the maxim that there is no client too small or too big, we attend equally and with the same interest both to production companies with very small projects (and not for that reason worse) and to big productions. Choosing a project in these 9 years of life is something complicated, there have been very beautiful projects and others that have been very difficult. Perhaps the ones that can give you a different point of view are films committed to social causes, Juegaterapia, Asociación Española contra el Cáncer, Amnesty International, etc. These are projects that end up touching the hearts and minds of the whole team behind them and always leave an indelible memory. And the first one you do, the one you put all your enthusiasm and effort into and the one that projects the most hopes and dreams is perhaps the most special.
Rolling Productions has been one of the sponsors of the XII Jornadas de Producción de Cine Publicitario. What motivated you to be part of this event and how do you value your collaboration with APCP?
At Rolling Productions we have been following APCP publications, newsletters and events for some time now. Most of our clients belong to APCP.We have always felt that having a coverage of our sector, a meeting point, a space for debate, plural and diverse, is essential for the knowledge of the functioning, expectations and ways of working within the sector. It is always good to learn from the best and to know their points of view. Being present at an event like this seems to us to be one more step towards getting to know ourselves and our clients better.
What is your long-term vision for Rolling Productions as a company?
It is a very fluctuating market, but our priority is to create a stable, reliable company that provides value to our clients, who trust us as a fundamental part of their production process. Rolling Productions must continue to grow together with the production companies that trust us. To create and be part of a strong, competitive and competent industry both nationally and internationally.
