We say goodbye to the beloved director and producer, winner of the Film Craft Grand Prix at Cannes Lions, who passed away in London last Saturday.

The Association of Advertising Film Production and Post-production Companies deeply regrets the passing of James Rouse, a leading director and producer in the international advertising industry.

James, British by birth, was a creative director widely recognized for his work on advertising campaigns that transcended commercial communication to become pieces of cultural and social impact. His career was dotted with awards and global recognition, notably his collaboration with Blur on the piece Hope, developed for the International Committee of the Red Cross. This work, which sensitively addresses the harshness of armed conflicts, won the Grand Prix in the ‘Film Craft’ category at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2018, a historic and emblematic award for Spain in that competition.

He was also a close friend of our community, especially connected with our associated production company ROMA, where he collaborated on various projects and left his mark for his generosity, creative intelligence, and way of working. He also participated as a speaker at the APCP Advertising Film Production and Post-production Conferences, always generously contributing an inspiring and enriching perspective for all attendees.

From APCP, we send our most sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.

Thank you, James, for your talent and your closeness.
