The Basque director, an APCP member, swept the Feroz Awards with her film Los domingos, is a favorite for the Goya Awards, and receives the accolade that recognizes filmmakers with outstanding projection.
The filmmaker and APCP member, Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, has been honored with the “Málaga Talent” Award within the framework of the 29th Málaga Festival, which will take place from March 6 to 15, 2026. This recognition, granted in collaboration with La Opinión de Málaga, distinguishes Spanish audiovisual professionals with ascending careers and international projection.
The contest jury has valued Ruiz de Azúa’s career for her ability to address complex issues with a personal and sensitive perspective, as well as for the impact of her work on the recent Spanish cinematic landscape. Following her beginnings with short films applauded at national and international festivals, she gained massive recognition with her opera prima Cinco lobitos (2021), a film that won over 30 awards, including three Goya Awards and international prizes.
The director has consolidated her career with projects that have crossed artistic borders: in 2024 she premiered the series Querer and in 2025 she presented her second feature film, Los domingos, a film that is garnering important accolades.
This film was the great winner at the Feroz Awards 2026, where it took the awards for ‘Best Dramatic Film’, ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Screenplay’, ‘Best Lead Actress’, and ‘Best Supporting Actress’, thus consolidating its position as one of the most relevant works of Spanish cinema of the year and emerging as a favorite in the next edition of the Goya Awards.
This recognition from the Málaga Festival joins other distinctions the filmmaker has recently received, including the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts granted by the Ministry of Culture, reaffirming the projection of contemporary Spanish cinema.
The “Málaga Talent” Award is part of the festival’s commitment to promoting emerging and consolidated talent in Spanish cinema, highlighting creators whose work combines artistic excellence and international reach.
