Our sponsored Bestours has signed the first SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) corporate programme contract signed in Spain with a travel agency that brings together different brands highly specialised in both the tailor-made and luxury holiday segment and the corporate segment.
Air France-KLM’s SAF corporate programme proposes that companies play an active role in the future of sustainable travel and provides for an annual contribution from participating companies that the airline group invests in the supply and use of sustainable aviation fuel. To date, companies such as Ficosa, Icárion, Airpharm Logistics S.A.U. and Acciona Forwarding have joined in Spain. At a global level, companies such as ABN AMRO, Arcadis, Lavazza, Maison Valentino, Kuehne & Nagel, Salvatore Ferragamo and Bolloré, among others, are also participating.
Through the SAF programme, Air France and KLM corporate customers, after an estimate of the CO₂ emissions associated with their travel, can determine the annual contribution they wish to make to the SAF programme. The Air France-KLM Group invests all contributions in the sourcing and use of sustainable aviation fuel. This will support the creation of a sustainable fuel industry to ensure increasingly eco-responsible air travel.
Sustainable aviation fuels, key levers for reducing CO₂ emissions.
Air France and KLM have been involved in research and development programmes in the field of alternative fuels for many years. In 2011, the two airlines were among the first to operate commercial flights with sustainable fuel, demonstrating that the use of alternative energy to fossil fuels is possible.
“We are very proud to be the first travel agency group specialising in the holiday, corporate and tour operating segments in Spain to collaborate with Air France-KLM’s SAF programme. We must all support and back the creation of a sustainable fuel industry to ensure an increasingly eco-responsible air transport and, in turn, the green transition of air transport. This agreement reflects our commitment to sustainability that we have been working on at Bestours Group for years, knowing that all our actions have an impact on the world”, said Julia Franch, CEO of Bestours Group.
