During the 10th Advertising Film Production Conference, the Gerety Awards will also have a space to tell us about their latest news.
Lucía Ongay, Co-Founder of the Awards with whom we had the pleasure to talk a few weeks ago, will be presenting the event. Amongst the chosen topics for our 10th edition are the Gerety Awards and its 2022 winners, who have been announced throughout September.
Since its creation, the organisation has focused on encouraging diversity and appreciating the talent of the women in the industry. Its name was chosen in honour of Frances Gerety, the editor that coined the slogan ‘A diamond is forever’ in 1948.
But… How did the Awards come to be? Ongay told the APCP: ‘We were on top of a ladder, below there were the guests, who were mostly middle aged white guys in black suits, and we thought that we needed to do something about it. At that point, people were already talking about the lack of visibility and presence of women in the juries for advertising festivals, but we thought that there was a lot of talking and no action, so we decided to do it ourselves’.
