MADRID, CITY OF THE “PREMIOS PLATINO”
With the celebration of the IX “Premios PLATINO” in Madrid, the Community of Madrid and its capital become the venue which has hosted the awards the most times after having hosted them previously in 2017 and 2021. The ceremony, which will take place on the eve of the Day of the Community of Madrid and the festivities of San Isidro, will once again be held at the IFEMA Palacio Municipal, the venue where the 8th edition took place, with the aim of repeating its success after the awards organisation’s commitment to the city, thanks also to the decisive support of the Community of Madrid and the Madrid City Council.
After starting its journey in Panama in 2014, the event was held in Spain (Marbella) in 2015, in Uruguay (Punta del Este) in 2016, and in Madrid in 2017, Mexico was the host of the PLATINO in 2018 and 2019. With the global health crisis, the awards were telematically delivered in 2020, and in 2021 they once again brought together the most important audio-visual representatives of the Ibero-American countries in Madrid, a key city as a meeting point for the audio-visual industry, but also for tourism, education and culture.
The undisputed success of the last edition of the PLATINOs was materialised in a record advertising value of over 163 million dollars and more than 66,000 news items published, a milestone despite the impact of the global pandemic on the audio-visual sector which demonstrates the ability of the awards to adapt to the complex international health situation. This wide media coverage contributed with the presence of the most important people of the Ibero-American culture, which continues to thrive internationally thanks to the continued success of its talent and productions, at the awards ceremony, which was presented by Juana Acosta and Luis Gerardo Méndez, and broadcasted by 21 channels, which emphasised the wide broadcasting and reach of the event.
