Lee Films is a Madrid-based advertising film production company, founded in 1990, consolidated as the most awarded production company in Spain, as reflected on its website. With more than 200 awards around the world, including 50 of the APCP Awards. It was created by José Manuel Albuerne and Ángel Recio, both of whom have a long history in advertising production.

This production company has made more than two thousand top quality spots on four different continents, working at the intersection of craftsmanship, technology and visual storytelling. They create pieces in different formats: films, TV programmes, photography… always taking care of their clients in the most loving and detailed way. Moreover, in their production processes they are very committed to sustainability, zero waste and carbon neutral and regenerative.

We spoke to Ibán Fernández, Managing Director and EP at Lee Films.

In these almost 35 years of experience in the advertising film production industry, how have you managed to adapt and thrive in a market that is constantly changing?

By trying to stay ahead of events, adapting to the changing needs of our clients, informing ourselves about new trends, focusing on changes in international processes and obviously relying on the business intuition that we have had all these years.

What actions are you taking to carry out more international production shoots?

The international department has been reinforced with the incorporation of Diego García Valdecasas to contact new contacts and consolidate the ones we already have, with the firm intention of expanding our international network in the main markets.

According to the formats of the projects you work on, how do you face the challenges that production presents?

By being multidisciplinary, offering solutions. We listen to our clients, we always try to work with top-level technicians and we study each project in detail, whether it is big or small. We focus on creative aspects without neglecting legal, logistical, etc. aspects. We try to optimise the resources available to us as much as possible.

Are there any particular projects you have in the pipeline that you can tell us about?

Yes, we have new projects in mind, but we prefer not to reveal this information yet.

Why do you consider sustainability in filming to be paramount in your filming?

It’s not only about trying to reduce our impact on filming, but also in the rest of our activity. It’s a question of accepting that the resources our planet provides are finite and that we have an obligation as entrepreneurs and individuals to try to minimise our impact on the environment as much as possible.

What are the future plans for Lee as a production company?

We hope to continue to have the confidence of our customers to continue to provide a high quality service and to make the process as easy as possible for all of them.
