Yesterday we presented the fifth edition of the Economic Study of Advertising Cinema in Spain and this year, for the first time, we have collected data on equality policies within Spanish production companies.
As this is the first year that this number has been presented, we do not have a comparative but we have obtained data that indicate that we are evolving favourably towards equality within the companies.
The study has revealed that 51% of the workforce (permanent + temporary) are women and 49% are men, a figure that shows that little by little a change is taking place.
The report also highlights that the work we are doing internally to take into account more technical staff, women, is working and the evidence is there. We exceeded the number of women recruited. This is something we discussed with the various workers’ associations.
There is still a lot of work and a long way to go in terms of equality, as in management positions the majority percentage is male (64%) and this reflects the fact that although there are favourable changes, there is still a big difference.
In our audiovisual sector there is still a lack of female leadership, and it is not for lack of great professionals, but in many occasions it is because they are in a place where they should not be and that is in the shadows. From APCP we support, manifest and work so that these glass ceilings are broken and that our professionals are given the visibility they deserve.
