The presentation took place at the headquarters of the Comunity of Madrid’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It was an event with a reduced capacity and broadcasted live via streaming.
Daniel Martínez Rodríguez (Vice-Minister of Culture and Tourism), César Vacchiano (SCOPEN President and CEO), Óscar López (Director of Research and Studies at SCOPEN) and María Jesús Horcajuelo (APCP Vice-President) took the floor to explain the reasons and objectives of the report, as well as the results obtained through it.
“There is no doubt of the importance that commercials have acquired in our society, both culturally and economically, becoming a phenomenon of constant presence in our lives. The economic impact that this activity has on the Community of Madrid is 144 million euros, which represents 37% of the turnover of advertising film production companies at a national level; and which translates mainly into rentals of materials, post-production, construction of sets, accommodation and a wide range of services that benefit us all.” – Daniel Martínez Rodríguez (Vice-Minister of Culture and Tourism).
They highlighted data such as the fact that 80,282 jobs were created by Spanish production companies in 2019. Of these, 34,842 were jobs created in the Community of Madrid.
These figures also reflected the negative growth which Spanish production companies have experienced due to the pandemic in 2020: More than 20%, both in turnover and in the number of projects carried out.
The event was also attended by Marysol García Gruben (General Director of Production at El Corte Inglés), as a representative of the advertisers, and Santiago Zannou (Cinema and Commercial Director). Both shared their experience from a long career of shoots in the Community of Madrid as well as what they have experienced and learned during shooting in these pandemic times.
During the event, all the participants agreed on how important it is that the Community of Madrid shows its support to the comercial production industry so that its activity does not cease
“On behalf of the entire industry, we would like to thank the Community of Madrid and Film Madrid for showing their interest in generating tools that help our activity not to slow down. This new stage requires us to walk together to further improve the way we produce. The production of this report show this desire and good will to continue working so that our sector doesn’t stop providing us with quality projects on a national and international level”. – María Jesús Horcajuelo, Vice-President of APCP
