APCP measures and offsets its carbon footprint at the 13th Commercial Film Workshop in Valencia.
The Association of Advertising Film Production and Post-Production Companies (APCP) has taken another step in its commitment to sustainability by measuring and offsetting the carbon footprint generated by the 13th Commercial Film Workshop, held on November 6 and 7, 2025, in Valencia. The measurement and offset process were carried out in collaboration with CREAST, a consultancy specialized in sustainability for the audiovisual industry, following the strictest international standards.
According to the executive report prepared by CREAST, the event—which brought together 475 attendees and took place over two days at multiple venues in the city—generated a total footprint of 6.5 tons of CO₂ equivalent. The analysis was conducted in accordance with the GHG protocol (scopes 1, 2, and 3), using official MITECO factors and, when necessary, international references from DEFRA, ensuring the rigor and traceability of the process.
By category, energy was the main source of emissions, accounting for 3,197.9 kg of CO₂eq, followed by catering with 1,544.5 kg CO₂eq, and mobility at 1,003.41 kg CO₂eq. Other categories analyzed included materials (563.06 kg), accommodation (154 kg), waste (65.84 kg), and water consumption, with a minimal impact of 0.65 kg CO₂eq.
The report also highlights the decisions made to reduce the environmental impact of the event, such as using biodegradable materials (PLA) for the trophies, renting furniture, and adopting production processes with nearly zero waste, supported by certified sustainable printing technologies.
As part of the full sustainability cycle—including measurement, reduction, and offset—APCP has offset 100% of the emissions generated, equivalent to 6.53 tons of CO₂eq, through the planting of six trees in reforestation projects managed with local indigenous communities. Each tree is expected to capture approximately 1.1 tons of CO₂ over a 20-year period, contributing to ecosystem conservation and the economic and cultural development of these communities.
With this initiative, APCP reinforces its position as an association that champions sustainability in all its events and actions, integrating environmental criteria into the organization of key professional gatherings for the advertising film sector. The collaboration with CREAST at the Valencia Workshop consolidates a line of work committed to a more responsible and environmentally aware audiovisual industry, aligned with current environmental challenges.
