APCP Festival: “Global Check-In”: an international perspective on Spanish advertising production

A panel discussion sponsored by MIMETIK will bring together producers and creatives from around the world to reflect on how our industry’s production is perceived and projected on an international stage.

In a world where creativity knows no borders, Spanish advertising production has carved out a niche for itself on the international map thanks to its talent, technical expertise, and narrative sensitivity. But how are we seen from abroad? What values define us in the global context? And where is production headed in an era dominated by immediacy, technology, and new forms of audiovisual consumption?

These are some of the questions that will be addressed at “Check-In Global: An International Look at Spanish Advertising Production,” a MIMETIK-sponsored event that will be part of the program for the 13th APCP Advertising Film Production and Post-Production Conference.

A connection that will cross time zones to bring together industry leaders from Europe, Latin America, and Asia in a conversation that seeks to broaden horizons, challenge inertia, and connect realities that, although different, share the same passion: telling stories through images.

The panel will be moderated by Mateo Luege Ruiz, executive producer of Somos5, who, drawing on his international experience and creative background, will guide this global dialogue. Originally from Mexico City and based in Madrid, Luege has over eight years of experience in the audiovisual industry, where he has worked with agencies such as Ogilvy, BBDO, and W+K, and brands like Ford, Apple, and PepsiCo. Winner of an Emmy Award in 2019, his approach combines artistic vision with executive precision, a perspective that seeks to build bridges between cultures, methods, and ways of producing.

From London, Mike Garrod, founder of World Fixer Ltd and Managing Director & Partner of Makers, will contribute his insights on how global production networks are redefining the craft. His company, Makers, operates in more than 50 countries, connecting brands, broadcasters, and NGOs with top local professionals and fostering a more agile, collaborative, and transparent production process. Garrod represents this new generation of producers who understand that contemporary production is not just about logistics, but about building global creative communities.

From Latin America, Jonsi Mesz, Managing Director & Partner at Oruga (Mexico, Chile, and Ecuador), will offer the perspective of a region where creativity is synonymous with ingenuity and resilience. Under his leadership, Oruga has developed integrated campaigns for major international brands, combining efficiency, craftsmanship, and cultural relevance. Their projects, which have won awards at festivals such as Cannes Lions and Clio, exemplify how Latin American production can compete head-to-head with any market in the world without losing its identity or emotional impact.

Meanwhile, from Mumbai, Sandipan Bhattacharyya, Chief Creative Officer at Monks India, will share his experience leading some of the most powerful creative teams in Asia. With over 24 years of experience at agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, BBDO, and Grey, Bhattacharyya has amassed more than 120 international awards, including Cannes Lions, D&AD, One Show, and Clio, and champions creativity as the most effective driver of business. His vision combines rigor, intuition, and a keen understanding of the contemporary consumer.

Closing the panel, Paloma Adrien, Chief Production Officer of Publicis Groupe Spain, will provide a local perspective from a key position within one of the world’s leading networks. With over 17 years of experience, Adrien has worked at agencies such as Ogilvy, Leo Burnett, Y&R, and La Despensa, leading productions for brands like Ikea, Santander, Coca-Cola, and Mastercard. Her career, recognized with awards at Cannes Lions, D&AD, FIAP or El Ojo de Iberoamérica, reflects the evolution of a professional who has been able to combine technological innovation with artistic sensitivity and human leadership.

“Check-In Global” won’t just be a panel discussion about production: it will be a conversation about identity, collaboration, and the future, about how Spain positions itself within the broader audiovisual ecosystem and what we can learn from those producing thousands of miles away with the same challenges.

Because, ultimately, talking about production is talking about people, about how each culture interprets the art of bringing an idea to life. And this panel—with voices from London, Mexico, Mumbai, and Madrid—promises to remind us that, although accents may change, the language of creativity remains the same.
