Did you know: New and old trades, the silent transformation of audiovisual production

Seminci Factory 2025 focuses on how emerging roles, such as intimacy coordination, and traditional trades, such as sound, are redefining the industry from a gender perspective and creative collaboration.

The audiovisual sector, and by extension the advertising sector, is in constant evolution. However, this transformation is not only technological, but also professional and human. The recent edition of Seminci Factory, the professional conference of the Valladolid Festival, has highlighted a reality that directly impacts our filming: the importance of “new and old trades” and the need to analyze them with a gender perspective.

This debate is fundamental because it delves into roles that, although sometimes invisible, are crucial for the quality and safety of a production. On the one hand, the emergence of already essential figures such as intimacy coordinators was highlighted, whose work is key to creating safe, professional and respectful filming environments.

On the other hand, the value of often masculinized technical trades was vindicated. The panel on “Creative Collaborations in Sound Post-production”, which featured top-level professionals such as supervisor Maite Arraiza and mixer Yasmina Praderas, highlighted the importance of making visible and promoting female talent in all technical areas of post-production.

The reflection posed by Seminci is vital for advertising production. The professionalization of new roles and the revaluation of technical trades from an equality approach are not fleeting trends, but key elements for the excellence, innovation and sustainability of our filming.

From the APCP, we firmly believe that focusing on all the trades that make up the production chain is essential. Promoting inclusion, gender perspective and safe environments in technical, creative and emerging roles not only enriches the final result, but also strengthens our industry, making it more just, innovative and equitable.
