The DAMA Youth Award returns to Zinemaldia with a jury of 150 young people who will decide which film deserves to shine
The San Sebastián International Film Festival once again bets on emerging talent and the fresh perspective of new generations. In its 73rd edition, a jury made up of 150 young people between 18 and 25 years old will be responsible for deciding the DAMA Youth Award, sponsored for the second consecutive year by the copyright management entity DAMA.
This recognition highlights filmmakers participating in the New Directors and Horizontes Latinos sections, where first and second films are presented that open new paths and reflect the future of cinema. After each screening, the juries score the works, and the ranking of favorites is updated daily on the official channels of the festival, creating a unique anticipation that will culminate on September 27, the day the award will be presented in a special ceremony.
From DAMA, its president Virginia Yagüe emphasizes that this award “reflects the commitment to promoting a love for cinema among new generations” and recalls that it can serve as a spark to awaken future creative vocations. Because, perhaps, among the 150 young people who vote today, the directors and screenwriters who will be premiering their films at the same Zinemaldia tomorrow are hidden.
With this award, the festival not only celebrates existing cinema but also plants seeds for the future for a more diverse, passionate, and committed industry.
At APCP, we share this vision of the future: we believe in the importance of supporting new generations and recognizing the talent that builds the foundations of a more solid and innovative industry. For this reason, we celebrate initiatives such as the DAMA Youth Award, which, like our associated production companies, demonstrate that creativity and passion are essential drivers to continue raising the level of our sector.
