This week we received the sad news of the passing of the Madrid-born actress, Verónica Echegui. We bid a sorrowful farewell to a great talent, a tireless actress much loved by the public and by the industry.
Actress, director, screenwriter… her creative talent expanded beyond being in front of the camera. In 2022, she was awarded a Goya for Best Short Film for Tótem Loba, an intense and personal work that reflected her commitment to telling palpable, sincere stories that provoke discomfort and revive collective memories.
She says goodbye too soon, but leaves an indelible legacy. Not only for her work, but for the coherence between her way of being and doing. Echegui shone naturally in front of the camera and was a powerful presence on and off the stage, where her authenticity and closeness to the public made her a hallmark and a figure of great impact. Her memory will live on in every viewer who found emotion and truth in her.
