Fad Juventud and the audiovisual sector bet on responsible narratives to prevent cyberviolence in adolescents
Her Majesty the Queen presided over a meeting of the Fad Juventud Board of Trustees at Amazon’s headquarters in Madrid, focusing on the growing problem of digital violence among adolescents. In this context, the potential of cinema and series as educational and preventive tools was highlighted, especially when they connect with young audiences with respect and empathy.
The colloquium “Cyberviolence in adolescents through audiovisuals” brought together creators and screenwriters from platforms such as Amazon, Netflix, Disney+, and Atresplayer, who reflected on how to address these issues on screen without revictimizing and by opting for transformative messages. The conversation revolved around the challenge of integrating plots that make digital violence visible without falling into sensationalism, and how well-constructed stories can generate positive role models, promote critical thinking, and contribute to breaking stigmas.
During the event, worrying data was also shared about the normalization of harassment on social networks, the emotional impact of digital overexposure, and the need to create content that speaks the language of new generations without losing sight of their emotional well-being. Fad Juventud stressed the key role of creators and platforms in building a healthier and more respectful collective imagination, where conflicts are managed with emotional intelligence, consent, and responsibility.
From the APCP, we celebrate this type of initiative, which underscores the power of audiovisuals not only as a cultural and economic driving force but also as an instrument of social change. We are committed to an industry that is engaged with the realities of young people and with the responsible use of narratives in favor of a more conscious and secure society. Through a collaborative approach between institutions, platforms, and professionals in the sector, it is possible to advance towards audiovisual production that not only entertains but also inspires the construction of fairer and more empathetic digital environments.
