Our associates traveled to Tenerife this week with the Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster.

The Canary Islands Advertising Film Forum is holding a new edition, this time in Tenerife and, once again, with the participation of several APCP production companies. This is an initiative promoted by the Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster and framed within the collaboration agreement signed with Proexca, with the support of APCP and Tenerife Film Commission, and the sponsorship of Macaronesia Films.

For four days, from July 7 to 10, the Forum turned the island into a meeting point for companies, institutions, and audiovisual professionals, with an agenda that combined networking with the exploration of the island’s natural and cultural heritage. Thus, our associates have toured Tenerife and enjoyed the great landscape diversity it holds, from volcanic areas to lush forests, passing through colonial cities, avant-garde architecture, industrial areas, black or white sand beaches, or rocky coast.

This scouting has served to show the virtues of the island as a film set for advertising cinema, to which is added the good working climate with mild temperatures averaging 23° throughout the year; as well as the excellent professional network and established local industry, with extensive experience and trajectory in live-action and animation audiovisual productions.

In addition, as the Cluster states, the Canary Islands benefit from a particular tax regime, the REF, which allows them to add 20 percentage points to tax incentives, so that the production deduction can reach up to 54%.

The first day, Monday 7, began with the arrival of attendees from Madrid and Barcelona, who were received at the Hotel Iberostar Mencey. After an informal lunch with Genoveva Ayala, manager of the Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster, the participants shared a B2B networking session. At night, local authorities and companies in the sector joined a welcome dinner at La Foret restaurant, where ties were strengthened in a relaxed atmosphere.

On Tuesday 8, attendees experienced a full day of immersion in the island’s geography. After a morning walk along Las Teresitas beach, the entourage moved to the natural environment of Finca Don Leandro, in the Las Lagunetas forest, and then ascended to the Teide National Park. There they visited iconic enclaves such as the Minas de San José, the Roques de García, and the Llano de Ucanca, culminating in a lunch at the Parador del Teide. The afternoon continued with visits to Boca Tauce and the Mirador de las Narices del Teide, and ended with a break at the La Pinochería gastrobar before returning to the hotel.

On Wednesday 9, the forum focused on the island’s cultural and creative dimension. The day began with a guided visit to the Tenerife Auditorium, followed by a tour of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of La Laguna. Subsequently, attendees walked through the historic center of La Laguna, a World Heritage city, and undertook a circular hiking route through the Anaga Rural Park. Lunch at Casa Carlos restaurant offered a sample of local gastronomy, and the day closed by the sea with a break at Café al Mar, on Porís de Abona beach.

On Thursday 10, staggered departures to the airport were organized, thus bringing an end to an FCPC edition marked by professional exchange, the promotion of the territory as a natural set, and the generation of new opportunities in the advertising film sector.

Tenerife Film Commission states that this fifth edition has proven to be a key meeting for the connection between production companies and other Tenerife companies in the audiovisual sector, with creatives and producers working with companies from all over the territory, as it facilitates project opportunities, exchange of experiences and serves to explore avenues of work for the near future. Also, because it places the island in a privileged position, thanks to the tour of unique locations and natural settings with great scenic value, locations that are prepared to host the production of advertising content in different formats.

Attendees describe it as a very interesting meeting with the Tenerife and Canary Islands production sector, the Cluster, the Film Commission, and the APCP, as well as the remarkable variety of possible natural environments and locations we have been able to see firsthand.

From APCP, we celebrate these initiatives to decentralize and strengthen our industry throughout Spanish territory and congratulate the organization for successfully completing a new edition.
