Buenos Aires leads the first Ibero-American meeting of film commissions

The Ministry of Culture of the city of Buenos Aires, through the General Directorate of Cultural and Creative Development, and as part of the plan to relaunch the Buenos Aires Film Commission, invited different film commissions to the 1st Ibero-American Meeting of Film Commissions with the aim of establishing a working group to develop a regional co-production agreement.

The event, held on 14 May, took place within the framework of the Conexión Buenos Aires – Madrid festival, with the participation of Spanish and Portuguese film commissions. After the face-to-face meeting with the representatives of the latter, a Letter of Commitment was signed, which gave rise to the first Ibero-American co-production agreement between the film commissions.

The Letter of Commitment seeks to collaborate on matters such as the creation of an international standard supported by protocols and good practices in terms of inclusion, gender equality and safety and green shooting, the promotion of screen tourism, presence in markets and participation in festivals, intellectual property and adaptation of books, artificial intelligence applied to production processes, the dynamics of attracting relevant international productions and the composition of supply in terms of technical, creative and production resources, locations, scripts, projects in development and content, among others.

More than 60 film commissions from Spain, Portugal, Central America, South America and the Caribbean are part of this working group. So far they have signed up:

  • Barcelona Film Commission (BFC)
  • Buenos Aires Film Commission
  • Cantabria Film Commission (Cantabria)
  • Castilla-La Mancha Film Commission (Castilla-La Mancha)
  • Madrid Film Commission (Film Office and Film Commission)
  • Navarra Film Commission (Navarra)
  • Portugal Film Commission (Porto)
  • Spain Film Commission
  • Valladolid Film Commission

The rest (Central America, South America and the Caribbean) are in the process of being signed.
