- 38th edition of Cinema Jove.
The 38th edition of Cinema Jove is being held. From the organisation, “The International Cinema Jove Festival, organised by the Institut Valencià de Cultura and recognised by the International Federation of Film Producers (FIAPF), will present in its 38th edition 10 feature films in competition from countries such as Finland, Nigeria, Australia, Belgium, Turkey and China. This year’s Official Feature Film Section is a mosaic built around some of the central problems of youth,” says Óscar Brox, a member of the selection committee. We find powerful love stories marked by the hostile environments in which they take place (‘Le paradis’), reflections on the increasingly frequent self-alienation to which contemporary societies push us (‘This Closeness’) or studies on the marginal life, bordering on criminality, which seems the only possible way out in the heart of big cities (‘Sons of Ramses’). The family is once again one of the core themes explored by some of the films, from tragicomedy (‘Family Time’), mockumentary (‘Starring Jerry as Himself’) and intimate drama (‘The Burdened’), as well as the emotional imbalances of the millennial generation (‘Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster’) and the search for a love marked by loneliness (‘Petrol’) and social taboos (‘All the colours in the world are between black and white’)”.

- Don’t miss the LÍA deadline.
14 July is the last chance to participate in the LÍA 2023. From the awards, they announce that “we are very selective when it comes to choosing our presidents and jury members. Each jury member must have a piece of work that showcases creative solutions and executions that are consistently above the norm and push the boundaries and the industry forward. Our jury chairs and jury members are highly regarded individuals, award-winning or mentioned in the trade press in their respective fields. They range from industry veterans to rising stars. When the London International Awards team selects the different juries, we strive to ensure that each of them meets current DE&I standards and is globally represented in terms of region, company, company type, network and/or holding company”.
In addition, “each jury member must see all entries in their respective categories and participate in all jury rounds”.
