The current situation has meant that many of our annual events have had to be in a new format.
The usual place for the Young Director Award (YDA), Cannes, was unable to host the event for the second year in a row, but we were all able to enjoy a great online programme. It started on the 5th and ended with the awards ceremony on Thursday 8th July.
Young Director Adward (YDA) Week is back! The theme chosen for this year’s 2021 edition was the necessary value of freedom.
YDA Week explored the multifaceted nature of freedom in filmmaking, from the liberation or limitation of technological advances such as AI, to the creative freedom a director must maintain while balancing the demands of clients and executives.
Spain had two representatives: León Guallart Díaz with his project “Memories of a sounded past” and Nanaouk Films with “Opera Omia”. Although they were not awarded prizes, they are our symbolic winners, representing young Spanish talent on an international level.
So that you don’t miss any of the details. Here you have a summary of the winners.
