- C Day kicks off
C-Day 2022 starts today. An essential event for all those who work in this profession, which for two days will once again meet in the corridors of the Kursaal, in the seats of the auditorium, on the terraces of La Concha and in the bars of the city centre. A unique opportunity to enjoy a social life and new contacts, but, above all, to receive new creative stimuli thanks to the extensive programme of talks over the next 48 hours.
Monica Moro, president of the c de c, will open the event at 11am. The first talk of the morning will be given by Domingo Corral, director of the Movistar+ original production department for cinema and series. It will be followed by a performance by the artist Miss Beige and talks on emerging art (Óscar Hormigos, chief creative officer of Colección SOLO), metaverse (Roberto Romero, founder of Future Lighthouse) and engineering to generate artificial waves that bring the sea closer to surfers (Fernando Odriozola, founder of Wavegarden). To discover the full programme for the two days, click here.
Two exhibitions will coexist in the corridors of the Kursaal. The first, #OVER_, an initiative of the Club de Creativos, in collaboration with the Instituto de la Mujer, as a continuation of its project to eradicate the limiting stereotypes with which women are represented in advertising. The second exhibition will be dedicated to the graphic pieces entered for the National Creativity Awards 2022.
In the foyer on the upper floor, you will be able to discover a series of installations created by Meta, co-organiser of the event, to bring us closer to the new perspectives offered by the metaverse to generate communities and virtual universes. During the two days, you will be able to participate in a competition organised by Meta, with a Meta Quest 2 as a prize for the winner. You can check the rules here.
Another competition you can take part in is the one organised by Gipuzkoa Turismoa: the first edition of Reels “Unique places in Gipuzkoa”, for young people attending C-Day 2022. The winning video will receive a prize of a two-night stay in a double room with breakfast (for two people) in a rural accommodation in Gipuzkoa. You can download the rules here.
- Carla Genoud, Executive Producer of Mamma Team on the Cannes Lions Jury
Cannes Lions has announced a panel of global experts from across the creative industries who will shortlist world-class creative work. The shortlisted entries will go on to be judged, awarded and celebrated on the world stage during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, which runs from 20-24 June 2022.
Carla Genoud, Executive Producer of Mamma Team is part of the jury in the Film Craft category. Carla joins the 13 representatives from Spain in this edition.
The Cannes Lions shortlist jurors will participate in the evaluation of the entries remotely from their home locations around the world. Simon Cook, CEO of LIONS, comments: “The votes cast during this crucial jury phase play a pivotal role in the judging process. This talented group of industry experts will bring us one step closer to defining the creative benchmark on the global stage this June. We are very grateful to our jurors for their time, dedication and expertise.”
- Entries are now open for the makers and shakers awards 2022
The Location Guide, makers magazine and the FOCUS show are calling for entries for the makers & shakers Awards 2022.
The ceremony, which launched at the BAFTAs in December 2019, celebrates excellence in global production. The next edition of the makers & shakers Awards will take place on 7 December 2022, the final day of the annual FOCUS show in London. The awards are free to enter and you can nominate yourself and your colleagues.
“We are passionate about recognising, supporting and celebrating the fantastic achievements of the international community of producers, who work tirelessly to support the work of their fellow creatives,” stresses Jean-Frédéric Garcia, CEO of The Location Guide. “While traditional awards are fantastic for honouring the best creative work in our sector, these ceremonies tend to overlook the efforts of professionals who are pioneering real change within the global screen industries. That’s why the makers & shakers awards were born: we understand the importance of celebrating the extraordinary production work being done on the ground.”
Entries open on 17 May. Following two successful awards ceremonies, the makers & shakers Awards will once again highlight the innovative and impactful contributions made by production professionals, freelancers, film commissions, government film liaison offices, studios, production services, support companies and facilities. To be eligible for an award, the work must have been made between 1 January 2021 and 31 July 2022.
The jury, composed of leading international professionals, including Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden (UK), LMGI, PACT and previous winners, is ready to judge entries in several categories.
