Sustainable events are possible!

And the award for the best sustainability action goes to…

From APCP we explain how to carry out environmentally conscious events, as more and more organisations are joining this plan. Here are some examples to inspire them in the future:

Next week, the 37th edition of the Goya Awards will kick off at the FIBE Conference and Exhibition Centre in Seville. For this ceremony, the organisers have come up with ideas that focus on the 3R rule: reuse reduce and reduce.

The Goya Awards statues themselves will be made from recyclable and non-polluting materials. In addition to this, the red carpet and the photocall will comply with the planning by being recycled and recyclable.

However, one of the most significant advances is the collaboration with companies specialised in the sector, in order to calculate the impact of the events: as APCP did in 2021 and 2022 during the Advertising Film Production Conference (being the first sustainable Spanish event), the Film Academy will count on Creast during the Goya Awards. This company dedicated to the reduction and measurement of the carbon footprint is specialised in the entertainment sector and its services are based on reducing, measuring and compensating the carbon footprint through an analysis of evidence of the environment; transport, accommodation, materials…

Related to the latter, there are elements that will also add to the sustainability point. Guests for the ceremony will be accommodated in LEED certified hotels (these being sustainable building projects). Also, the use of public transport such as trains and the use of electric cars will be promoted as opposed to flying, in order to make the journey more environmentally friendly and reduce the environmental impact.

In addition, workers at the event will be required to separate waste at properly labelled recycling points. In addition, water fountains will be provided for guests at the gala, with a focus on the absolute reduction of plastic or plastic-containing products.

There is no doubt that sustainable events are possible, with the right planning and organisation, anything is possible.
