Canadian independent agency Cossette, one of Canada’s most internationally rewarded agencies, has created the powerful campaign for the Gerety Awards 2023. Translated into more than 20 languages, the campaign emphasises the power of having a different perspective. The kind of perspective that is, quite literally, represented by the Gerety jury.
The Gerety Awards 2023 jury is composed of 190 members from 40 different countries. Entries are open to agencies, production companies, design studios and advertisers and both national and international campaigns can participate. The selection criteria is the originality of the creative idea and the quality of its execution.
The festival is named after Frances Gerety, the copywriter who created the slogan “A diamond is forever” in 1948. The Gerety Awards marks the first time a jury has come together to select the best in advertising from a powerful perspective, establishing a relevant benchmark for the market, while redefining the standard that has traditionally defined advertising. Analysing creative work from a female perspective.Cossette was Agency of the Year in 2021 and rewarded with several awards since the first edition of Gerety with clients such as Sick Kids, Nabs, McDonald’s and World Wheelchair Rugby. They sought to develop an idea that would attract all types of campaigns to the festival, reinforcing the value of a unique judging perspective, such as Gerety’s, and moving away from old stereotypes.
Nicole Ellerton, Group Creative Director / AD explains “We knew we needed to delve deeper into what makes the Gerety Awards different from all the others. The 100% female perspective invites an environment where campaigns are judged from a unique perspective that no other festival can offer”.
