ACCIÓN MUJERES: Promoting gender equality

By August 26, 2021 News No Comments

Acción Mujeres, a web resource where you can find Ibero-American organizations that are committed to gender equality and the fight against sexual harassment in the field of film and television.

Acción Mujeres is a project by the Colombian filmmaker Josephine Landertinger Forero (Home: The Country of Illusion, The First Dance, Grenzenlos), which was born in response to the sexual abuse scandals in the film industry in Colombia and Brazil during the year 2020.

The filmmaker found that there was a lack of digital information spaces where affected people could go.

In this way, the idea was born of compiling and bringing together all Ibero-American organizations in a directory of organizations committed to gender equality and the fight against sexual harassment in the field of film and television.

Acción Mujeres has a clear mission: it seeks to bring together Ibero-American film institutions, organizations and collectives that work for gender equality in one place; to be the reference website for women workers in the film and television industry in Latin America; highlight those who work for gender equality in film and television in Ibero-America; promote and highlight directors, producers, technicians, actresses and other film and television professionals in Latin America through the periodic publication of profiles; organize periodic events fostering dialogue and promoting gender equity in Ibero-American audiovisuals; inspire, empower and create community

Spanish organizations such as RAMPA, a collaborator of the APCP and an online directory of professional women in the Spanish audiovisual industry, which includes women workers in film, television, advertising, video games and XR are part of this initiative.

We are proud to have such active and committed collaborators, and it seems essential to us to give a voice to platforms such as Acción Mujeres, real initiatives that seek solutions.
